VESPERTINE
Culver City
2017-present
For Vespertine, Jona Sees collaborated with chef Jordan Kahn on the material and atmospheric identity of one of Los Angeles’ most ambitious restaurant projects. Housed in Eric Owen Moss’s sculptural Culver City building, Vespertine was conceived as a total sensory environment: part restaurant, part architecture, part performance, part myth.
Jona’s garments, textiles, and material sensibility became part of the restaurant’s foundational language, shaping how bodies moved through the space, how service was perceived, and how texture, silence, shadow, and ritual accumulated over the course of the meal. In dialogue with Kahn’s cuisine, Moss’s architecture, the restaurant’s soundscape, and the work of other artists, Jona helped establish Vespertine as a world rather than a venue.
