I’m of Gaelic descent, born in the foothills of the American Rockies, and spent most of my adult life in Manhattan and Brooklyn. I grew up in art.
Living in southern Italy, I became fascinated by clothing less as fashion and more as social psychology, a live experiment in how what we wear alters perception, and with it, experience.
I speak Japanese, which led to a job as an assistant designer for a small Japanese brand. From the beginning I was working in factories, side by side with makers. Later, with help from a design I respected, I started an experimental brand called Inaisce. Despite having little idea what I was doing, it developed a cult following, showing in New York and Paris, and was sold in luxury boutiques and department stores internationally.
I eventually set that down to return to exploration in art and environment. I spent a year in Hong Kong art directing a film, then more years roaming planetary and mental wildlands. Returning to civilization with a clearer mission, I started Eyn Vas, a broader vehicle for world-building and for exploring the hidden structures that shape how we live.
I’ve spent the last five-plus years in Los Angeles, where, when not in my studio, I’m watching its curious culture, wondering trails, freediving, and exploring the unknown.
